  • During the closing day of SOA's games, officers from the Afghan National Army are in charge at the Gazhi Stadium.....SPECIAL OLYMPICS AFGHANISTAN 2005 GAMES FOR DISABLES KABUL 25 August 2005.  Gazhi Stadium. On 23-25 August 2005, Special Olympics Afghanistan held its first national Games at Olympic Stadium in Kabul. More than 300 athletes, including 80 female athletes, experienced a taste of happiness and achievement for the first time in their lives. They competed in athletics, bocce and football (soccer). Because of cultural restrictions, males and females competed at separate venues.

  • Natale in contea 2010 - Castro - Lecce - 25 dicembre 2010 - Natale in contea è la rappresentazione medievale del presepe vivente che Castro propone ogni anno. Si tratta di una rappresentazione ospitata nel borgon antico della cittadina dove i mestieri di un tempo (ma spesso sono gli stessi che ancora oggi caratterizzano la terra salentina) prendono vita nelle mani degli artigiani. La manifestazione è organizzata dal Comune di Castro in collaborazione con l'Associazione Castro Medievale. Tutto il centro storico di Castro viene animato da personaggi e costumi del tempo e in ciascun edificio viene ricreata la vita quotidiana che in esso si svolgeva.

Il fondo pianeggiante è coperto da terre rosse e da un sottile strato di terreno alluvionale, molto fertile, che maschera i sottostanti inghiottitoi. Proprio la fertilità dei suoli ha permesso la diffusione di colture pregiate come la vigna.Inoltre il Canale di Pirro è stato un' importante via di comunicazione già in tempi remoti; è argomento di storiche discussioni se l'origine del nome della depressione carsica si debba al re dell'Epiro che vi sarebbe transitato nel 280 a.C. nel corso della sua campagna in Italia, o se sia la semplice deformazione di Canale delle pile, dei pozzi proprio per la presenza di numerose cisterne presenti nell'area, utilizzate per la raccolta e la conservazione delle acque piovane che qui confluivano dai fianchi delle colline, in genere con bocche circolari costituite da pietre lavorate...In Puglia, ancora oggi, persistono realtà autentiche e genuine: flora e fauna sono gli ingredienti base delle masserie che con i loro muretti a secco costellano il territorio del tacco d' Italia. Qui l'allevamento è una delle attività principali, ieri come oggi, che il massaro porta avanti quotidianamente con pazienza e devozione. La masseria delle Murge è abitata da equini, bovini, ovini ecc. che sono il motore della produzione alimentare come per esempio la tipica mozzarella. Entriamo quindi in un'atmosfera bucolica che ci fa respirare odori, gustare sapori e ammirare colori che identificano il territorio. Buon viaggio dei sensi..

  • Il complesso produttivo delle saline è situato nel comune italiano di Margherita di Savoia (nome dato dagli abitanti in onore alla regina d'Italia che molto si adoperò nei confronti dei salinieri) nella provincia di Barletta-Andria-Trani in Puglia. Sono le più grandi d'Europa e le seconde nel mondo, in grado di produrre circa la metà del sale marino nazionale (500.000 di tonnellate annue).All'interno dei suoi bacini si sono insediate popolazioni di uccelli migratori e non, divenuti stanziali quali il fenicottero rosa, airone cenerino, garzetta, avocetta, cavaliere d'Italia, chiurlo, chiurlotello, fischione, volpoca..Recinzione dell'area che ospita le strutture di lavorazione del sale. Nell'area è vietata la caccia e la pesca, come si può leggere dal cartello.
