Il racconto inizia nel 2001, con il giovane giornalista che frequenta per circa un mese l'Ambasciata dei Taliban e prosegue sino al 2006, quando l'autore viene sequestrato e infine trasportato per otto ore nel portabagagli di un'autovettura, incappucciato e incatenato, per poi essere consegnato a un uomo di Emergency.
